2010 Mock Draft First Round

1. St. Louis Rams- Talk about some serious trouble! Between SJax beating his pregnant girl (allegedly) and the talk of ownership, there are way too many holes for the Rams to fix in a year. Luckily, it is an uncapped year and if they choose to they can throw some money around and make moves...but, for a franchise as up in the air as them, probably not. This team needs leadership at the QB position, a provent vet WR to help their young talent and some Defensive hogs up front. No doubt having the first pick they will fix one of these holes with..Pick: Ndamukong Suh DT Nebraska

2. Detroit Lions- Stafford, who was expected to be the First Round rookie QB who could step in and make a difference did not meet expectations. He looked worst out of the three first rounders overall, but did show why he will be a great QB at times with his accuracy and rocket arm. Problem is, it's hard to win games and get comfy as a QB when your D gives up points every drive. Detroit needs a solid number 2 WR, think of what the duo of Williams and Megatron could have done with this kid in a few years! However, coach Schwartz needs serious defensive help and will get it in..Pick: Gerald McCoy DT Oklahoma

3. Tampa Bay Bucs- Bye Bye Antonio Bryant, would you want to play for a team with more turnover than a used car dealership? Bryant is pretty much a given to sign elsewhere and maybe the Glazers will actually spend some money on their NFL team instead of the Manchester United loan which is bankrupting them. Tampa will need a WR and may get it in Brandon Marshall since they have the 2nd and 5th Denver wants. Really, Tampa has no choice but to get them if they want any attendance. However, the safety play by Piscatelli was horrific and with the supposed second coming of Ed Reed available here, they will go safety. Pick: Eric Berry S Tennessee

4. Washington Redskins- Think Shanahan is going to instantly make these guys contenders???? Actually, he can. Zorn was notorious for being walked all over and with Shanny calling the shots, I look for a big turnaround from these guys. It will be fun to see what happens between Portis and Shanny if things do not go well. Many "experts" have Washington going with the rookie Clausen here as their pick but I don't see it. Shanny went the rookie route with Cutler and it took some time for him to see results. He will make Campbell adjust and fit the system which will be run first anyway. Shanny has three solid backs to play with and he will use them often. Shanny wants to capitalize now and right now they need an OT. Pick: Russell Okung OT Oklahoma State

5. Kansas City Chiefs- With a monster future RB in Jamaal Charles, and a QB they paid big money for, I think KC actually goes with WR here since the OT they want in Okung will be gone. KC has absolutely zero after Dwayne Bowe, and I expect them to make some trade moves to shore up the LB and CB positions instead of using this pick on them. We saw how goood Cassel could be with Moss and Welker, and I am sure Weiss will be pleading for an extra weapon. Pick: Dez Bryant WR Oklahoma State

6. Seattle Seahawks- What a bust Housh whatever was! He came nowhere close to expectations and he proved he is not a number one receiver. Nate Burleson is amazing when healthy and Forcett will be Pete Carroll's NFL version of Reggie Bush in USC. Hasslebeck is 35 and showed his age last season. He has maybe one year left, just enough time to mentor a new QB. Seneca Wallace is a career back-up and obviously not the answer. Carrol goes with the California prep standout here. Pick: Jimmy Clausen QB Notre Dame

7. Cleveland Browns- The Browns need more help than can be found here and may be a victim of circumstances. I would not be surprised if they trade down. There is not a stellar pick here which warrants number 7 money. There are a ton of defensive playmakers but is a CB (Fla. Joe Haden or USF LB Pierre-Paul) really what you want to gamble on when if he proves healthy Sam Bradford may be available. Remember how they took Quinn when he fell to them? Even though they may be scared to make the same mistake, I don't see how they don't go Bradford if they don't trade this pick down. Jacksonville needs that pocket passer and with Tebows bad Senior bowl, they trade up for this slot. Pick: TRADE DOWN With Jacksonville Jags, Jags select Bradford.

8. Oakland- The hiring of Hue Jackson will not be the life support this team needs if Jamarcus Russell is within 20 yards of the ball. Contrary to the great publicity how "he wasn't brought in just for Russell", I think otherwise. Davis loves being the Offensive master mind and to think that he has seen the light and supressed his ego is asking a bit much. Although, the empty stands hitting his pocket may actually have done so, we will have yet to see. Smells to me like Nosferatu is bringing Hue in specifically to help Jamarcus, and Hue is kissing Al's ass because he sees a HC job if Cable doesn't produce this year. Raiders will not be able to pass on a stellar CB here who has the potential to lock down the other half of the field. Pick: Joe Haden CB Florida

9. Buffalo Bills- Although Kiper and others have stated they go QB here, I do not see them being able to with Clausen and Bradford potentially gone. Bills need help up front or no QB is ever going to produce. With the duo of Jackson and Lynch, some holes can open up an offense that has potential. New coach Gailey has an older school mind set and will look to fill holes where it all begins, OT. Pick: Anthony Davis OT Rutgers

10. Denver Broncos- Brandon Marshall will be gone, and Denver will make a run at WR...just not here. With Dez Bryant gone, Denver will not reach and will address the defense here. WR will be taken in free agency and in a division which likes to pound the rock, ILB is a need. Pick: Rolando Mclain ILB Alabama

11. Cleveland Browns (From Jacksonville)- With Harrison possibly proving he is the back of the future, Cleveland can address O line here or DE. What the shake up with Holmgren will mean who knows, but my guess is Holmgren pushes O-Line here being an Offensive mind.
Pick: Bryan Bulaga OT Iowa

12. Miami Dolphins- Jason Taylor says he isn't done yet, but it's only another year or two before he is. The best DE in the draft should be available here in Derrick Morgan. Ronnie Brown may be going elsewhere so a look at CJ Spiller is a big possibility. The Phins also need a WR desperately but they should look that way next round. Pick: Derrick Morgan DE Georgia Tech.

13. San Francisco- San Fran's Offensive Line held up pretty well even though it may be a point they look for here. However, the secondary does need help as does the QB position which I think they look for next year. Pick: Trent Williams OT Oklahoma

14. Seattle Seahawks- Homer pick here. The Seattle secondary was less than stellar and Carroll will not hesitate to bring in a player he has groomed. Pick: Taylor Mays S USC

15. NY Giants- With Antonio Pierce possibly leaving, ILB is a position of need. Their RB situation seems to be slowing down but they can wait on that. Pick: Rolando Mcclain ILB Alabama

16. Tennessee Titans- Van de Bosch is most likely gone, and the defense was a shell of itself after the departure of Haynesworth. They need some pressure, and the best DE available will be the little known USF DE who may slip to this point. Pick: Jason Pierre Paul DE USF

17. San Francisco-While there is talk CJ Spiller could be used here, Glenn Coffee looked solid in his time subbing for Gore and they may believe he is the answer in a few years. With Singletary being a Defensive mind, why not stock up on defense further at the LB position. Pick: Sergio Kindle OLB Texas

18. Pittsburgh Steelers- Pittsburgh needs to get back to its ground game because Big Ben has been throwing way too much. Willie Parker is no longer Fast Willie and Rashard Mendenhall can't hold the rock. While they will need help in the secondary, taking the pressure off Ben and putting together those typical time consuming drives they were used to may be more important. Having a Chris Johnson type would turn this team around immediately from their fall last season. Pick: CJ Spiller RB Clemson

19. Atlanta Falcons- The Falcons will get some help at WR via free agency, so their biggest need is on defense. Ever since Deangelo Hall left, Atlanta has been missing any defensive impact player outside of John Abraham. Any CB though will not succeed with opposing QB's able to sit back all day so look for Atlanta to go D line. Pick: Carlos Dunlap DE Florida

20. Houston Texans- Houston can put up points, but they can give up a ton too. While they do need Dlinemen, I think they more importantly need secondary help. Pick: Earl Thomas S Texas

21. Cincinnati Bengals- This Defense has grown through the draft and became one of the better ones in the league. While they are desperate at TE and maybe some youth at WR, I don't see them passing a solid DT to solidify that D even more. The time to address a TE/WR can come in later rounds. Pick: Brian Price DT UCLA

22. New England Patriots- The Pats do need a new successor to Brady but Colt Mccoy if healthy or Tebow are not it. The Pats need more help at LB and I expect them to go heavy on Defense this year. Pick: Ricky Sapp OLB Clemson

23. Green Bay Packers- Given the solid Offensive core, Green Bay needs to build a new but promising Defense. Aaron Kampman I believe will actually stay given Green Bay's promise to make the post season. So I think GB maybe reaches a little bit and goes for a DB to help the ageless Woodson. Another outside possibility is RB Jahvid Best, CAL, where it may be that they look for some depth and possibly a new starter since Grant has the possibility of being a one year wonder.
Pick: Pat Robinson CB Florida State.

24. Philadelphia Eagles- I have to go with the status quo pick here and believe Philly will go for LB help. Their Offense is as potent as ever and the only flaws are found in the LB play. Pick: Sean Witherspoon OLB Missouri

25. Baltimore Ravens- Derrik Mason is maybe one more year away from calling it quits, and Ray Rice will be run into the ground if they don't get Flacco help. Flacco is capable but he needs some help and a WR here will allow one of the league greats to mentor a rookie whom I think will be the steal of the draft. Pick: Arrelious Benn WR Illinois.

26. Arizona Cards- Uh-oh, time to see if Leinart is really going to amount to more than a pretty boy. He has had a Hall of Famer mentor and years to study. No excuses for the pink vodka party boy. They do need some help in the secondary, but with Boldin possibly Bolting, they may look for some help at the TE position. A TE is a QB's best friend when first starting out and since Leinart is by all accounts still a rookie, they may need a second option for him. Risky, but I say Zona goes TE. Pick: Jermaine Gresham TE Oklahoma

27. Dallas Cowboys- Another year of close but no cigar for the Boys. They have the Offense, but the Defense after Ware is just not able to close the deal. Dallas always seems to be just a score away and while they do need Oline help, I think defense is the key here. Pick: Dan Williams DT Tennessee

28. San Diego Chargers- Common thought is that the Chargers will go RB here since LT will be let go and Sproles is not considered an every down back. Although I do not agree, I do think they will go RB here. Problem is, they will most likely select a back much like Sproles in stature. Maybe two of the same is better than one. Pick: Jahvid Best RB Cal

29. NY Jets- Everyone seems to be on point here with the selection of a WR. Braylon is good, but not a great and the Jets have nobody past him at this position. Sanchez is going to be a great QB in this league, but he will need to pass more to keep defenses back on their heels instead of anticipating the run on every play except third down. Pick: Golden Tate WR Notre Dame

30. Minnesota Vikings- Yes, Yes, Favre will be back. Think he wants to go out on the note he left with GB???? No way, Favre returns, Peterson has Under Armour develop a new "sticky" forearm pad in his name and the Vikes solidify the defense. Pick: Dan Williams DT Tennessee

31. New Orleans Saints- Offense obviously needs no help and the secondary is solid as far as I am concerned. What the Saints need is help up front. Will Smith is a solid player, but the addition of a DT. Pick: Jared Oderick DT Penn State

32. Indianapolis Colts- This is the team that needs a some help on Defense even though they constantly over achieve year in and year out. It is a testament to the coaching, and I don't know if another team in the league plays with as much heart and leadership. That said, maybe they can stave off using this pick on a defensive player and select an OT for a line that is getting older and more banged up. Peyton has at least five years left and with his contract coming, they need to protect that record QB contract he will sign. Pick: Mike Iupati OL Idaho.
