What the latest FA moves mean to Fantasy

Anquan Boldin, Baltimore: Now a legitimate #1, Boldin's poor showing fantasy wise last year will easily be forgotten. Derrick Mason's push for more money just bit him in the ass and it's unlikely Baltimore will re-sign him. Mason was a great number two fantasy wise and Boldin should well surpass his production because he is more of a red-zone threat that Mason is. I would immediately place Boldin in the top 12 this year. In keeper leagues he is now a no brainer. Auction wise, while everyone overpaid for his value last year, it may be worth keeping him on board this year even if it does cost you 40 dollars in a 200 dollar cap league. Yes it will hurt but you're gonna pay that same amount to re-sign him once the bidding starts.

Antonio Cromartie, Jets: As if the Jets were'nt already expected to be a top Defense, I think they are the surefire top pick this year. Problem is, will they be on the field too long now that their best back is gone? Definitely top five regardless, but will they be worth an 8th round pick which should be where you can jump the gun?

Nate Burleson, Detroit: This helps Kevin Smith's value (if healthy), Stafford, and Megatron. Teams will still double up on Calvin which should allow Burleson to see a lot of single coverage. With his speed and length, this could be dangerous. Detroit has built a better team over night and maybe even a contender. Believe it or not, I put Burleson as a top second tier WR for fantasy maybe even lower 1st tier. I know it's pushing it, but consider he was the only passing threat past John Carlson at TE. He still put up numbers and was outperforming TJ Houshmendazeh. Now with a serious number #1 in Calvin the opportunities are there.

Chester Taylor, Bears: I would not be surprised at all to see Chester surpass Forte this year. He is exactly the type of back Martz loves and who do you think probably pushed for him? Forte is a good back but after an unproductive season and given what Chester has done in limited work behind AP, I believe Chester is the next Michael Turner after Turner left the shadow of LT. I actually might believe Chester is the better pick than Forte. However it's a risky one because Forte has talent and could rise to the challenge. A great #3 back for now but may pay off much higher.

Brandon Marshall: Looks like Seattle is the destination, and although this is a great potential signing, fantasy wise I think TJ might wind up as the better value. Remember what he did in Cinci? Ocho would gain the yards and he would scavenge the TD's. A player like Marshall will get his fair share but given Housh should go in the fifth to sixth rounds or come relatively cheap in auctions, I believe he will give more bang for the buck. What this could do for the old man behind center could make Matt a top ten QB.
